Coming Soon: The Metrics App

A decentralized marketplace for on-demand blockchain analytics at scale.

Over the past year, hundreds of analysts have participated in sourcing and answering critical Web3 questions for our partners and the broader ecosystem in real time, making MetricsDAO the leader in agnostic, community-driven, on-demand blockchain analytics.

Our three step process – brainstorming; analytics; and review – provides a variety of ways for the community and Web3 organizations to generate engagement, education, content and peer reviewed analytics.

While MetricsDAO has scaled, there are further opportunities to automate and decentralize our operations and user experience, which is critical to the DAO’s ongoing growth and success. Which is why we’re building a self service app.

The new Metrics App will allow anyone (any protocol, DAO, individual or organization) to harness the power of the MetricsDAO community by requesting work in an open marketplace, and have it be completed, peer reviewed and rewarded automatically.

A Useful Lexicon

Challenge: Any permitted participant can launch/fund challenges with tokens that will be used to reward winners for successfully fulfilling their requests. These are single, time-based brainstorm or analytic challenges within a broader challenge marketplace (i.e. bounty).

Challenge Marketplace: a grouping of one or many challenges which have the same theme (i.e. chain/project, hacks, scams), prerequisites to participate, and reward parameters.

Prerequisites: What you must hold in your connected wallet to perform various actions on challenges in this challenge marketplace (i.e. launch challenges, submit work, review submissions).

rMETRIC: a reputation token that enables author/analyst participation. rMETRIC is earned when any author/analyst makes a positive non-financial contribution.

Reward Curve: How all challenge reward pools are distributed across winners. Rewards the top n% of submissions for each challenge (very aggressive 5%, aggressive 10%, moderate 25%, lenient 50%, reward all non-spam 100%)

Rewards – Once the review period ends and challenge winners are selected, winners can immediately claim their share of reward tokens distributed from the reward pool funded when the challenge was launched. The app supports both protocol chain and multi-chain payments to ensure we can reward participants with stable coins and/or partners’ native tokens (i.e. SOL)

Use Cases at Launch

Below is an overview of the two main use-cases for the Metrics App at launch. In the future, we could also support Curation, Buildathons, Marketing (i.e. tweets, videos, blogs, product reviews, etc.), Education/Growth (on-chain onboarding and retention activities) and other use cases as partner/business needs arise.

Brainstorm – To crowdsource the best questions for blockchain analysts to answer about any web3 topic.

  • At launch, DAO Contributors will be able to create “challenge marketplaces” on behalf of crypto partners. Eventually anyone will be able to.
  • Anyone with enough rMETRIC will be able to jump into challenge marketplaces and discover brainstorm challenges, as well as submit one or more question ideas. Note: Authors must claim challenges before submitting, and must temporarily lock rMETRIC as commitment to submitting at least one entry. If they fail to submit at least one entry, they’ll be slashed
  • Anyone with the Reviewer Badge will be able to review peers’ submissions to surface and reward the best questions.
  • Multiple reviewers score each submission and each submission ends up with an overall qualitative score (i.e. great) and a numerical score (i.e. 95) to further clarify quality and break ties. Note: Reviewers must claim challenges for review before reviewing and temporarily lock rMETRIC as commitment to reviewing a minimum number of submissions. If they fail to review the minimum, they’ll be slashed
